STANFORD, Calif.- No. 9 Stanford downed No. 52 BYU 5-2 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference match at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Despite losing the doubles point, the Cardinal (6-2) collected five singles wins to secure the match.
BYU (3-5) won doubles matches on courts two and three to snag the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
However, Stanford received three quick singles wins from Ryan Thacher, Walker Kehrer and Denis Lin to move in front 3-1.
Robert Stineman's 7-5, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 spot provided the clincher.
Stanford is back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 14, hosting Fresno State at 1:30 p.m.
