STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team defeated the University of Arizona Splashcats and the Arizona State University Synchro Devils on Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center.
In the 'A' figures, junior Jessica Guenther finished first with a 79.035 for the Cardinal. She was followed by senior Koko Urata (77.836), sophomore Liane Lovitt (77.119), senior Alex Bollaidlaw (76.963), junior Madison Crocker (76.227) and freshman Anna Boyle (73.510).
In the 'B' figures, sophomore Leigh Haldeman took the top spot with a 70.324, while junior Danielle Rossoni finished third with a 62.717.
The Cardinal trio of Bollaidlaw, Lovitt and Urata captured first with an 87.000. Boyle, Crocker and Haldeman finished second with an 84.833. Arizona's Cheryl Cheah, Claire Rudder and Emily Thompson-Bruder placed third with a 77.667, while ASU's Jana Cunningham, Payton Landers and Jennifer Kurtz took fourth with a 73.167.
In the duet, Stanford's Crocker and Guenther claimed the highest score with an 87.167. They were followed by the Cardinal's Bollaidlaw and Urata in second (86.000) and Boyle and Haldeman in third (82.833). The Arizona duo of Clarice Ainscow and Allie Vanden-Berge took fourth with a 74.667.
Crocker won the solo routine with an 85.167, while Arizona's Lauren Meadows finished second with a 77.333.
Stanford will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for a rematch against the Splashcats on Saturday, Mar. 3 and 1 p.m. PT. The teams will then compete in the Western Regional on Sunday, Mar. 4 at 11 a.m. PT.
