STANFORD, Calif.- No. 11 Stanford blanked San Francisco 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Due to rain in the forecast, singles was played first. The Cardinal (6-0, 1-0 Pac-12) dominated the action, dropping four games or less on all six courts.
Leading 3-0, Stacey Tan's 6-2, 6-2 victory over Melinda Akerbrant clinched the match.
Ranked No. 1 entering the week, Stanford dropped 10 spots to No. 11. This is the first week that the Campbell/ITA Division I College Tennis Rankings are based on the computer point-per-match formula, causing several major changes throughout the rankings. Florida, who was No. 2 in the last version, dropped to No. 15.
UCLA currently holds the top spot, as the Bruins have collected seven victories over teams currently in the top 25 of the national rankings, including four wins over top 10 teams.
Stanford is back in action on Friday, March 2, facing No. 7 California at 1:30 p.m. in Berkeley.
