GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team opened the 2012 U.S. Collegiate Nationals, Thursday, at the Stephen O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla., with the trio, duet and solo preliminary rounds.
Stanford trio of Anna Boyle, Madison Crocker and Leigh Haldeman finished second with a score of 87.433 behind Ohio State (88.500). The University of Incarnate Word took third (87.333) and the Cardinal trio of Alex Bollaidlaw, Liane Lovitt and Koko Urata came in fourth with an 87.300. Rounding out the top-5 was the trio from Canisius College (86.830).
In the duet, Stanford's Crocker and Jessica Guenther placed third with an 87.200, while Bollaidlaw and Urata took fifth with an 86.067. Ohio State topped the group with an 88.983. In second was the duet from the University of Incarnate Word (88.030), while Lindenwood finished fourth with an 86.350.
Crocker finished sixth in the solo with an 86.467. Coming in first in the solo prelim was Ohio State's Yulia Maryanko (89.467). Following Maryanko was Incarnate Word's Saki Fujise (88.417) and Inga Gillyer (88.067), Lindenwood's Reem Abdalazem (87.133) and Canisius College's Svetlana Ponkratova (87.000).
The 2012 Collegiate Nationals continue Friday, March 16 with the team prelims and the figures finals. The finals will take place on Saturday, March 17.
