Synchro Completes Prelims at Collegiate Nationals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team finished third in the technical competitions at the 2012 U.S. Collegiate Nationals, held at the Stephen O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla.

Stanford finished in third overall behind the University of Florida and the University of Incarnate Word on Saturday.

Highlighting the second day of Collegiate Nationals for the Cardinal was sophomore Leigh Haldeman taking home the B Figures crown.

In the A Elements, in which 48 athletes competed, junior Jessica Guenther was the highest-finishing Cardinal taking sixth with a score of 76.738. Senior Koko Urata finished 11th with a 75.164, while sophomore Liane Lovitt was 12th with a 74.444. Also placing in the top-20 were senior Alex Bollaidlaw at 17th (73.593) and junior Madison Crocker at 18th (73.542).

Stanford will compete in the trip, duet and solo finals on Saturday, March 17. The finals will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.
