Fencing Up To 11th at NCAA Championships after Day 3

Columbus, Ohio -- The Cardinal fencing team moved up to 11th place after day 3 of the NCAA Championships after an inspired performance by the men. The Stanford men scored 33 points, scoring in all three weapons to move the team up from 15th to 11th.

Stanford sat in 15th after the women wrapped up their portion of the event, but Saturday the Cardinal men scored the eighth-most points to move the Cardinal up to 11th.

The Cardinal men scored its most points in epee with 17. Kian Ameli led the squad with 10 victories, while Cole Connelly chipped in seven of his own.

In foil, it was all Turner Caldwell who had nine victories. Caldwell trailed only Ameli as the most prolific fencer of the day for Stanford.

Finally, Cameron Lindsay and Jeremy Klepner combined for seven victories in saber. Lindsay had five, while Klepner had two.

The Cardinal fencers will wrap up the NCAA Championships on Sunday with the men's finals.
