March 31, 2012

Following a week of training at St. Mary's College in Maryland, Stanford sailing is in third place at the Southern Northeastern team race at Connecticut College,  12th of 17 teams at the Dellenbaugh Women's Invite at Brown and tenth at the St. Francis Invite on the San Francisco Bay.

In the team race, Yale leads team racing with a 10-1 mark and Hobart College is second at 9-2. Skippers Mateo Vargas, Kevin Laube and Haley Kirk went 8-3 with losses to Yale, Roger Williams and Boston College.

At Brown, the Cardinal women have a combined 125 points. The B Division skippered by Eliza Richartz has 57 points over the first six races. The A Division skippered by Sally Mace has 68 points over eight races.

Back on the West Coast, the lone coed team on the left coast has a combined 94 points for tenth place among of 31 teams. The A Division skippered by Molly McKinney tallied 47 points over four races, but had three top-seven finishes before scoring a last place, 32-point foul to push them back about three spots in the standings.

Each race concludes on Sunday. Stanford spent its entire spring break at St. Mary's College of Maryland for its annual week-long training session on the East Coast.
