Jenna Becerra Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

April 16, 2012

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior first baseman Jenna Becerra has been named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Cardinal offensively to a sweep of No. 25 Oregon State, its first Pac-12 series win of the year.

Stanford began the week at No. 16 UCLA, playing a double-header on Tuesday and the series finale on Wednesday. Becerra hit .400 (6-for-15) in the six contests, hitting three doubles and three home runs. Both of her homers against the Beavers were grand slams making her the only Cardinal player to hit a grand slam in consecutive games.

She finished with 11 RBI, five runs scored and a 1.200 slugging percentage on the week. She tallied a career-best five RBI in Saturday's 7-0 shutout of OSU. This season, she is hitting a career high .356, leads the team with 12 doubles and has registered 42 hits, 20 more than she hit in her previous three seasons on The Farm.

It is the first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Becerra and the first softball winner since Teagan Gerhart won on April 11, 2008.
