April 16, 2012

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford freshman Kiley Neushul earned her first KAP 7 MPSF Player of the Week honor Monday, the conference announced.

It is the first player of the week award for Neushul, who has earned three newcomer of the week honors from the conference this season.

Neushul, a Goleta native, scored a season-high five goals in No. 1 Stanford's 11-5 win over No. 4 California in Saturday's Big Splash at Avery Aquatic Center. She scored the Cardinal's first two goals of the game, as well as three in Stanford's 6-0 run over the game's opening 12 minutes.

The win clinched a top-two seed at April 27-29's MPSF Championship for the Cardinal, which will have a chance at the top seed in Saturday's 6:30 p.m. contest at No. 2 UCLA.

Neushul's performance raised her team-leading scoring total to 43 goals.
