TEMPE, Ariz. - The 16th-ranked Stanford softball team dropped a 7-1 decision at fourth-ranked Arizona State, Sunday, at Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. The Cardinal now stands at 32-16 overall and 6-12 in the Pac-12, while the Sun Devils improve to 39-5 overall and 11-2 in the conference.

Junior pitcher Teagan Gerhart earned the start in the circle, giving up three runs on two hits in 0.1 innings. She drops to 27-10. Freshman Nyree White entered the game in relief in the first inning. She finished with three strikeouts while allowing four runs on six hits. ASU's Hillary Bach picked up the win and is now 19-0 overall.

ASU's Alix Johnson hit a two-run home run and freshman Elizabeth Caporuscio followed with a solo shot to give the Sun Devils an early 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Stanford cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth as junior Jenna Rich hit a solo home run well over the left field wall. She continues to lead the Cardinal with nine long balls this season.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, catcher Kelsey Gerhart hit a single up the middle for the Cardinal. It marked the first collegiate hit for the junior.

The Sun Devils increased their lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Shortstop Katelyn Boyd hit a two-run homer to centerfield, scoring Bailey Wigness.

ASU tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning to push the score to 7-1.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to UC Davis on Wednesday, Apr. 25. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Smith Family Stadium.
