Eddie Penev Named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford gymnast Eddie Penev has been named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after being crowned NCAA champion in both vault and floor exercise at national championships last weekend.

The junior from Rochester, N.Y. is the first Cardinal men's gymnast to win multiple individual championships in the same season. Penev won an individual national title on vault as a freshman, and his three career titles tie Steve Hug and Ted Marcy for most in a career.

Penev posted scores of 16.100 on floor and 15.500 on vault and is now a five-time All-American in three years on The Farm.

Penev was also named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week on April 20, 2010, after winning his first individual title.
