STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 seed Stanford advanced to the semifinal round of the MPSF Championship with a 13-3 victory over eighth-seeded Hawai'i Friday morning at Avery Aquatic Center.

Stanford (22-1) will return to action in Saturday's first semifinal at 2:30 p.m., taking on the winner of Friday afternoon's quarterfinal between No. 4 Arizona State and No. 5 California.

Freshman Ashley Grossman led the offense with four goals in Friday's win. The Cardinal also got a pair of goals each from Kaley Dodson, Jillian Garton, Kaitlyn Lo and Pallavi Menon. Alyssa Lo also added a goal.

Kate Baldoni made nine saves as the Cardinal cemented its place as the MPSF's top defense. Freshman Emily Dorst came on for Baldoni with 4:03 to go in the contest and did not allow a goal.

Dodson and Lo provided the first-period goals for Stanford, getting the Cardinal off to a 2-0 start. The lead stretched to 4-0 thanks to goals in the opening 56 seconds of the second frame, forcing a Hawai'i timeout.

The Rainbow Wahine (10-13) responded with goals from Emily Carr and Sivan Pardon, and answered a fifth Stanford goal with Pardon's second of the game to pull within two at 5-3. However, Stanford would add a sixth goal before halftime to take a 6-3 lead at the break.

From there, it was all Stanford as the Cardinal scored seven times in the second half while Baldoni and the defense kept the Rainbow Wahine off the board.

Grossman added a pair of goals late while Menon and Garton also netted late to provide the final touches on the win.
