April 27, 2012

OJAI, Calif.- No. 10 Stanford dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 1 USC on Friday afternoon in the semifinal round of the Pac-12 Championships.

The third-seeded Cardinal (17-8, 5-2 Pac-12) suffered its third loss of the year to the second-seeded Trojans (26-1, 6-1 Pac-12), who also swept both meetings in the regular season.

USC claimed the doubles point with victories on courts one and three.

The Trojans then received singles wins from Steve Johnson (6-4, 6-3 at No. 1), Daniel Nguyen (6-3, 6-3 at No. 3) and Yannick Hanfmann (6-4, 6-4 at No. 5).

Despite Friday's loss, Stanford remains a lock for postseason play and a possible host for NCAA first and second round matches.
