Stanford in 11th Place After First Day of Pac-12 Championships

PULLMAN, Wash. - Just how tough were the conditions today at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. for the first round of the Pac-12 Championships?

One golfer in the field managed to break par, Arizona State leads the tournament at 11-over par and Stanford managed just one birdie for the entire day.

The Cardinal struggled in the cold and windy conditions, shooting a 32-over score of 320 and is in 11th place after the first round of the Pac-12 Championships.

The Sun Devils lead the tournament at 299 (+11), while UCLA is five strokes back at 304 (+16). USC and California are tied for third at 306 while Oregon is within striking distance at 307 (+19).

Arizona State senior Giulia Molinaro was the only Pac-12 golfer to finish under par on Friday, carding a 1-under 71. After shooting even-par on the front nine holes, Molinaro recorded birdies on the 10th, 11th and 17th holes. She holds a three-shot lead over Colorado's Jennifer Coleman, UCLA's Erynne Lee and USC's Lisa McCloskey, who all finished 2-over 74.

Mariko Tumangan shot an opening round 78 (+6) and is tied for 25th place. Tumangan had the team's only birdie on the day, which came on the par-4 15th hole.

Sydney Burlison is tied for 33rd after shooting an opening round 79, while Kristina Wong carded an 80 and is tied for 39th.

Sally Watson and Marissa Mar are tied for 52nd after each player shot opening rounds of 83.

The second round of the tournament resumes Saturday with Oregon and Colorado taking the first tee at 8:30 a.m., followed by USC and Cal at 9:10 a.m. and ASU and UCLA at 9:50 a.m. Washington State and Arizona will tee off from the 10th tee at 8:30 a.m. Washington, Oregon State and Stanford follow at 9:10 a.m.
