Central Coast Leads to Quiet First Day at Coed PCCSCs

April 28, 2012

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-- A beautiful day on the Central Coast led to very little wind as the first of two days of the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference's coed championships managed just two rounds.

Stanford skippers Kevin Laube and Oliver Toole, sailing in the A and B Divisions, have the Cardinal in the top two, along with the host Gauchos. Long Beach State, Hawaii, USC, UC San Diego, Santa Clara and Cal are battling for the final two spots.

Four teams from the PCCSC heads onto one of two 18-team national semifinals, this one in Annapolis, MD starting on May 12, prior to the national championships in Texas at the end of May.

The Cardinal team racing squad and women's squad have already qualified for nationals. Stanford is ranked in the national top-eight in each of the three sailing categories and top-five in coed and women's racing.
