Box Score

SALT LAKE CITY-- Stephen Piscotty (4-2) worked his way through 6.1 innings and No. 12-ranked Stanford (36-14, 17-10 Pac-12) swept host Utah (14-38, 7-23 Pac-12), following a 4-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

Danny Diekroeger went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and Alex Blandino added a two-run shot in support of Piscotty, who also went 1-for-4 at the plate.

Piscotty went a career-best 6.1 innings for the second-straight weekend, giving up one run on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Piscotty four times stranded a Ute at second, getting a flyout in the third, strikeouts to end the fourth and fifth innings and a groundout to end the sixth. After leaving in the seventh, his only run came across to score on Australian native James Brooks' fielder's choice, making it 4-1.

Diekroeger's third home run of the season, a solo shot in the third, made it 1-0. Blandino's two-run shot made it 3-0 with two outs in the sixth.

A.J. Vanegas finished the game off for his fifth save, tossing 2.2 innings, allowing one hit.

NOTES: It was the fifth three-game sweep of the season for the Cardinal... Piscotty tied his career-high for innings pitched (6.1) and set his career-high for strikeouts (4) in his second weekend start... Austin Wilson just used every inch of his 6'5" frame to leap, stretch, catch and roll on a ball headed to the wall… the final regular season road game is at Santa Clara on Tuesday. The Cardinal return home next weekend to host Cal in the regular season series finale,
