No. 11 Stanford Takes Down Central Michigan, 2-1

EAST LANSING, MICH.- No. 11 Stanford scored a pair of second-half goals to rally past Central Michigan 2-1 on Monday afternoon in a neutral site game played in East Lansing, Mich.

The Cardinal (3-3, 0-0 NorPac) wrapped up its three-game road swing with back-to-back victories, evening its overall record before returning to the Varsity Turf for a two-game homestand next week.

Stanford controlled tempo offensively in each of this weekend's three contests, with Monday's result offering more of the same. The Cardinal outshot Central Michigan (3-2, 0-0 MAC) by a 22-4 count and held a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.

In the three games combined over the weekend against Michigan State, Miami (OH) and Central Michigan, Stanford owned advantages in shots (62-18) and penalty corners (29-11).

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Emily Henriksson and Kelsey Harbin produced goals for Stanford.

Erin Dye put the Chippewas in front 1-0 with a goal in the 22nd minute of a first half that featured only seven shots combined.

Emily Henriksson then scored her first goal of the year at the 49:50 mark to even the game, converting on a loose ball following an assist from Courtney Haldeman.

Just over 10 minutes later, Kelsey Harbin tacked on the game-winner when she found the cage thanks to an assist from Becky Dru.

Dru and Maddie Secco led all players with three shot attempts while Dulcie Davies made two saves in goal to earn the victory.

Stanford is back in action on Friday, Sept. 7, against Iowa at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
