STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team opened the home portion of its schedule with a win over the University of Incarnate Word, Saturday, at the Avery Aquatics Center in Stanford, Calif.
Stanford placed first in the trio as seniors Alex Bollaidlaw and Koko Urata and sophomore Liane Lovitt scored an 86.00. A trio from Incarnate Word took second with an 85.50. Stanford junior Madison Crocker teamed up with sophomore Leigh Haldeman and freshman Anna Boyle to finish third with 85.00. Incarnate Word took fourth with an 84.25.
The Cardinal also took the top spot in the duet as Crocker and junior Jessica Guenther scored an 88.50. Incarnate Word finished second with an 88.00, while Bollaidlaw and Urata tallied an 87.00. A duo from Incarnate Word also placed fourth with an 85.50, while Haldeman and Boyle came in fifth with an 84.75.
Incarnate Word placed first and third in the solo routine with an 89.25 and an 85.75, respectively. Crocker scored an 87.5 for the Cardinal to finish second.
In the team event, Incarnate Word came in first with an 89.00. The Stanford team of Bollaidlaw, Boyle, Haldeman and Urata, one of the smallest teams the Cardinal has competed with, scored and 86.5
Up next, Stanford will play host to Lindenwood University next weekend at the Avery Aquatic Center. The teams will compete on Friday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m.
