Stanford Splits Decisions on Day One

Jan. 19, 2013

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's squash team opened its first East Coast trip of 2013 on Friday with a loss to Yale and a convincing victory over Bates College.

In its first match of the day, No. 7 Stanford lost to No. 4 Yale 9-0. The Cardinal was led by three-time All-American Pamela Chua who challenged Yale in the Number One position, losing 3-1.

The Cardinal didn't have time to dwell on the loss, however, as it had to prepare for its match against No. 14 Bates College.

Stanford responded with a big performance, earning an 8-1 victory over the Bobcats. The Cardinal saw victories from Julie Koenig (3-0), Madeleine Gill (3-0), Alexandra Huchro (3-1), Ariel Posner (3-0), Carolyn Gillette (3-0) and Alex Yorke (3-0).

The Cardinal will continue its East Coast swing on Saturday when it takes on No. 20 Bowdoin College, No. 9 Columbia and No. 8 Dartmouth.
