No. 7 Stanford Suffers Rare Home Loss, Falls 4-3

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 47 Saint Mary's upended No. 7 Stanford 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford (3-1, 0-0 Pac-12) lost for only the third time on its home court since the 1999 campaign. The Cardinal notched an NCAA record 184-match home winning streak from 1999-2011.

Saint Mary's (5-3, 2-0 WCC) grabbed a crucial 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point, picking up victories on courts one and two.

Stanford moved in front 2-1 following convincing straight-set wins from Stacey Tan (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 4 spot and Kristie Ahn (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 2 position.

The Gaels evened the match at 2-2 when Jenny Jullien defeated Krista Hardebeck 7-5, 6-1 in a battle of top-25 players at the No. 1 spot.

Lindsey Kostas booked a 6-4, 6-4 win on court six in her dual match debut, pushing Stanford ahead 3-2.

However, Danielle Flores countered with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 triumph over Ellen Tsay at the No. 3 spot.

Tied at 3-3, Catherine Leduc outlasted Natalie Dillon 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 to secure the match on court five.

Stanford was competing without the services of its No. 1 singles player in Nicole Gibbs.

The Cardinal is back in action next weekend, traveling to Clemson (Feb. 23) and Florida (Feb. 24).
