Stanford Synchro Defeats Incarnate Word and Lindenwood

SAN ANTONIO - The Stanford synchronized swimming team scored 81 total points to top Incarnate Word (77 points) and Lindenwood University (60 points), Saturday, in San Antonio, Texas.

"I was really excited for the team to compete in San Antonio this weekend," said head coach Sara Lowe. "UIW and Lindenwood are two of our stongest competitors this year, so it was nice to compete against them with five weeks left to train for Collegiate Nationals."

In the duet competition, Stanford's Olivia Morgan and Megan Hansley captured first place with an 89.333. UIW's Brianna Andreychuk and Katy Wiita took second with an 86.167, while the Cardinal's Morgan Fuller and Madison Crocker were third with a score of 85.333.

Stanford also won the team swim with a score of 89.833. Competing for the Cardinal was Morgan, Hansley, Crocker, Fuller, Michelle Moore, Mariya Koroleva, Leigh Haldeman and Evelyna Wang. UIW finished second with an 89.333, while Lindenwood tallied an 86.000 for third place.

"We have focused on edurance nd made a few changes throughout the past two weeks. The athletes swam very strongly and I was happy to see the work we have done reflected in their swims today," said Lowe.

UIW's Andreychuk, Wiita and Rosilyn Tegart topped the trio swim with an 86.167. Stanford's Crocker, Moore and Koroleva were second with an 85.500, while Lindenwood's Reem Abdalazem, Anouk Eman and Dennise Ramirez took third with an 882.667. The Cardinal's Morgan, Hansley and Fuller were fourth (82.167).

Lindenwood's Mary Killman, Koroleva's duet partner in the 2012 London Olympics, won the solo competition with a 90.000. Koroleva finished second with an 86.167. Abdalazem was third for Lindenwood (86.000), while Tegart took fourth for UIW (83.667).

On Friday, Stanford's Wang topped the figures competition with a 73386, while Morgan won the elements with 72.948.

Up next, Stanford travels to Mesa, Ariz., to take on Arizona State University and Lindenwood on Feb. 23-24.
