7-0 Win Over Utah Completes Perfect Homestand

March 24, 2013

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 15 Stanford extended its shutout streak to five, breezing past No. 69 Utah 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (10-2, 4-0 Pac-12) went undefeated during its six-match homestand and now carries that same winning streak into its toughest road trip of the season next week against the Southern California schools.

Utah (7-7, 1-5 Pac-12) dropped its fifth straight match after winning a season-high five in a row.

Stanford claimed the doubles point thanks to victories at the top two spots of the lineup.

Ellen Tsay's 6-0, 6-1 victory on court five stretched Stanford's lead to 2-0, before Stacey Tan followed with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the No. 4 spot.

Natalie Dillon then provided the clincher, taking down Paige Miles 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 6 position.

Nicole Gibbs kept the shutout alive, outlasting Tereza Bekerova 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7) in a battle of nationally-ranked players at the No. 1 spot.

Stanford visits UCLA on Friday (1:30 p.m.) and USC on Saturday (12 p.m.) in critical matches that will give the winner an inside track to the conference title.
