STANFORD, Calif.- No. 41 Stanford defeated No. 73 Utah 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (10-9, 3-3 Pac-12) evened its conference record for the first time this year and has won back-to-back matches for the first time since late March.
The Utes (11-11, 1-5 Pac-12) have dropped five in a row.
Stanford secured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, receiving victories at the top two courts while the match at No. 3 went unfinished.
Robert Stineman put Stanford in front 2-0 following a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Devin Lane at the No. 4 position.
Seconds later, the Cardinal moved ahead 3-0 when Trey Strobel downed Ben Tasevac 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot. Strobel has won five straight matches and eight of his last 10 overall.
The clincher came from John Morrissey, who chalked up his team-leading 20th win of the year following a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Dmytro Mamedov at the No. 1 spot.
Singles victories from Slim Hamza and Cedric Willems accounted for Utah's two points.
Stanford's five-match homestand continues on Tuesday, April 16, against Pacific at 1:30 p.m.
