Freshman forward Lindsay Taylor (Los Altos, Calif./Castilleja School), who scored three goals in as many shots in a 5-0 victory over Santa Clara on the road on Friday, Oct. 3, has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Athlete of the week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2008.

The hat-trick against the Broncos was a career first for Taylor, who managed to score three different types of goals. Her first came in the form of a one-timer off classmate Teresa Noyola's centering pass, her second a header again off a serve by Noyola, and her third a breakaway courtesy of junior Kelley O'Hara's through ball pass. Her first two goals came in the opening half, with her first earning credit as the game-winner. Her third goal came on the heels of sophomore Christen Press’ tally in the beginning of the second half, giving the Cardinal the 4-0 advantage. Taylor was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Collegiate Women’s Team of the Week for her efforts, the second time this year she has earned those accolades.

Stanford is undefeated on the season, posting a 10-0-1 record as it heads into the Pac-10 table beginning this Friday against Oregon.

Also nominated were Toby Gerhart (football), Alix Klineman (women's volleyball), Bobby Warshaw (men's soccer), Drac Wigo (men’s water polo), Kate Niehaus (women’s cross country), and Taylor Grimes (sailing).
