Senior running back Anthony Kimble (Baton Rouge, La.), who ran for a career high 157 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns in Stanford's 35-28 win at Washington on Saturday, has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Athlete of the week for September 22-27, 2008.
Kimble's 157 rushing yards marked the 21st-best single-game rushing performance in school history and the best rushing output since J.R. Lemon finished with 162 yards against Washington in 2004. Kimble's 83-yard touchdown run in the third quarter tied for the fifth-longest touchdown run from scrimmage in school history, matching Buck Fawcett's 1941 jaunt against Santa Clara.
Stanford is 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Pac-10 Conference heading into Saturday's non-conference game at Notre Dame.
