Freshman Eddie Penev (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport High School) of the Stanford men?™s gymnastics team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 12-18.
Penev led Stanford to a national runner-up finish at the NCAA Team Championships and followed that up with an NCAA Individual Title on the vault. During the team finals, Penev scored 16.4 on vault, which was the top score of the competition. He followed that up with a score of 15.85 in the floor exercise, which led Stanford and was the second highest score in the event overall.
A day later, Penev captured the individual NCAA title on the vault with a score of 16.45.
