Christen Press Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior Christen Press (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Chadwick School) of the Stanford women?™s soccer team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for November 31-December 6.

Junior Christen Press (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Chadwick School) of the No. 2 Stanford women?™s soccer team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week for November 31-December 6.

Press scored on a 25-yard shot in overtime to give Stanford a 2-1 victory over UCLA in the College Cup semifinals and send the Cardinal into its first NCAA championship final. Press also had an assist in the semifinal in College Station, Texas, and appeared to score a late equalizer in the final against North Carolina, but the Cardinal was ruled offside and the Cardinal lost, 1-0.

Press, who was named to the College Cup All-Tournament team, scored 21 goals and had a school-record 16 assists this season, giving her the second-highest season totals in goals and points (58) in Stanford history.

This is Press?™s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the third for the women?™s soccer team in the 2009 season. Press and the Cardinal finished with a 25-1 record.
