Evan Romero Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior Evan Romero (Miami Lakes, Fla./Monsignor Pace High School) of the Stanford men?™s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 5-11.

Senior Evan Romero (Miami Lakes, Fla./Monsignor Pace High School) of the No. 1 Stanford men?™s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 5-11.?

Romero put away a career-high 37 kills, including five in the fifth set, to lead No. 1 Stanford to a 30-22, 30-25, 36-38, 26-30, 15-6 victory over No. 3 Pepperdine. Romero followed with 13 kills in a 30-23, 30-24, 30-15 sweep over No. 6 USC on Saturday.?

For the weekend, Romero had 50 kills in 90 attacks and only 12 errors, for a .422 hitting percentage. He also combined for 10 digs, four blocks and an ace in helping Stanford secure homecourt advantage for the first round of the MPSF Tournament and keeping the Cardinal in the running for a conference title and No. 1 seed.?

This is Romero?™s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the second for the men?™s volleyball team in the 2010 season. Romero and the Cardinal currently boast an 18-5 overall record and a 15-5 mark in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation heading into the final weekend of the regular season.?
