Julia Smit Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week
Senior Julia Smit (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai High School) of the Stanford women?™s basketball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-Feb. 1.

STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford senior Julia Smit, after the top time in five individual events at UCLA and at No. 9-ranked USC, was awarded with the Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week.
Smit posted "B" standard times in the 100 and 200 freestyles and 200 breaststroke at UCLA on Friday, before winning the 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley on Saturday. The Cardinal, at 8-0 in dual play, remain undefeated and ranked in the top-five nationally. She was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team, also a "B" standard time, against the Women of Troy.
Smit is a two-time Pac-10 Swimmer of the Month and broke two short course world records in December. With a school-record in the 200 backstroke this past fall, she now owns five individual school-records.
