This summer has been great! The entire team made a concertedeffort to stay in the area in order to play, workout, and growtogether as a unit. Working together has definitely paid off and willcontinue to do so as we enter the 2006-07 season and school year.With such a large group of young and new players, this period hasbeen a valuable and critical growing experience for our team. Whilewe have been playing hard on the court, working diligently in theweight room, and taking classes, we have also spent a considerableamount of time bonding and having fun away from MaplesPavilion, whether it is out bowling or simply hanging out in thedorms. We have definitely taken advantage of the summer periodto build team chemistry and camaraderie.
My teammates and I are anxious to get going with this upcomingseason and school year. It is a new year and a new team that ishungry and excited for the many opportunities ahead of us. Ofcourse, we will miss the leadership and presence of our seniorleaders of last year, Dan Grunfeld, Jason Haas, Matt Haryasz andChris Hernandez. In addition to the talent and experience we havereturning from last year's team, we bring in a strong and very giftedgroup of hardworking freshmen. We also welcome an incomingsophomore transfer who has proven to be a valuable addition andcontributor to the team. Each member of this incoming class bringsa valuable and unique dimension to contribute to the dynamic ofour team, both on and off the court.
We are eager and counting down the days to begin practice withCoach Johnson and the rest of our coaching staff as we work toregain elite status as Pac-10 champions. I'm sure you are just asexcited as we are for the 2006-07 season to begin. We will be funand exciting to watch and support.
Stanford Basketball has remained an elite program today becauseof the support system of the Cage Club and Stanford community,who have encouraged and bolstered our team each year. We cannotthank you enough for your support! We look forward to seeing allof you soon at the games and Stanford basketball events. God Blessand Go Cardinal!
