Senior Matt Ceran (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood School) of the Stanford men?s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 31- Jan. 6.

Senior Matt Ceran (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood School) of the Stanford men?s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 31- Jan. 6.
Ceran, recorded 60 in Stanford’s three matches against CS-Northridge, UC Irvine and Canadian powerhouse University of Alberta. In the opening round win against CS-Northridge, Ceran recorded 18 kills as the Cardinal defeated the tournament three seed 3-1 and setup a match against defending national champion UC Irvine. In the match against the Anteaters, Ceran recorded 18 more kills as Stanford defeated the national champions 3-2.
The Cardinal was unable to topple top-seed Alberta in the tournament championship game, but Ceran still recorded 22 kills in the loss.
This is Ceran’s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor as well as the first for the men?s volleyball team in the 2008 season. Ceran and the rest of the eighth-ranked Cardinal return to action Friday, Jan. 11 at 7:00 p.m. as they begin MPSF play against the UCLA Bruins. The Cardinal also will play defending champion UC Irvine on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m in Irvine, Calif.
