At Stanford: Junior will miss the 2009 season while recovering from successful "Tommy John" surgery, and will return to action in 2010...when healthy, features a low-90s fastball that highlighted a three-pitch repertoire.

As a Freshman in 2007: Fashioned a perfect 2-0 record and 5.93 ERA (9er, 13.2ip) in 15 relief appearances...struck out 11 in 13.2 innings of work...started the season very strong, allowing just two earned runs in his first seven appearances spanning 8.2 frames...earned his first collegiate win February 24 vs. Kansas, working 2.1-innings of hitless, scoreless relief in Stanford's 4-1 victory...was the winning pitcher in the Cardinal's 8-3 triumph March 27 at San Jose State, holding the Spartans scoreless over the final 1.1 frames...fanned three batters in just 3.2 Pac-10 innings over six outings.
High School: Graduated in 2006 from A.C. Davis High School in Yakima, Wash....named 2006 first-team all-state and 2005 honorable mention all-state...a four-time first-team All-Big Nine Conference selection...posted a 7-0 record and a 1.43 ERA as a senior...also played forward on a basketball squad that made an appearance at the 2004 State Tournament...coached in baseball by Pete Orgill.
Other Amateur Baseball: Enjoyed a solid 2008 summer campaign with the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks, going 2-1 with a 3.47 ERA (9er, 23.1ip) in six games (three starts)...held opposing batters to a .268 average (22-for-82)...was very effective for the Amsterdam Mohawks of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2007, posting a 3-1 record and a 2.17 ERA over eight outings (five starts) for a team that was just 17-25 overall...struck out 40 batters in 37.1 innings pitched...played four summers for the Yakima (Wash.) Beetles American Legion team (2003-06)...led the Beetles to a third place finish at the 2005 Northwest Regionals...pitched Yakima to the semifinals of that tournament by striking out 14 over a nine-inning, complete-game shutout against current Stanford teammate Joey August's team (Salem, Ore.).
