The 2000 Season:Tied for the team lead in interceptions with three and led the team with 10 pass break-ups as a backup cornerback ... He played in all 11 games ... Also registered 19 total tackles and one fumble recovery ... Started the first two games of the year as the team's fifth defensive back in its nickel package vs. Washington State and San Jose State ... Had a season best four tackles in each of those first two games ... In the season finale vs. Cal, he had three tackles, two interceptions and three pass break-ups ... At UCLA, he returned an interception 56 yards, the longest INT return of the year by the Cardinal.
The 1999 Season: Used in a reserve role at cornerback ... Finished the year with 12 total tackles, one quarterback sack, one tackle-for-loss, one interception and four pass break-ups ... Missed three games due to a broken hand (Oregon State, USC and Washington) ... Did not play in games against Oregon State, USC and Washington ... Recorded his interception vs. San Jose State ... Had three tackles and a sack vs. UCLA.
The 1998 Season: One of five true freshman to letter for the Cardinal in 1998 ... Brian began the year as a backup at cornerback, but by game #4 he was inserted into the starting lineup ... He wound up starting three games (Oregon, Notre Dame, Oregon State) before a fractured thumb forced him from the lineup ... He played with a soft cast for the remainder of the season ... In High School: Played both offense and defense at Addison High School in Illinois ... He was named a prep All-American by PrepStar and an All-Midwest choice by SuperPrep ... As a senior, he had six interceptions as a cornerback to go along with 756 yards and nine TDs rushing and 20 receptions for 322 yards and seven TDs ... He also averaged over 30 yards per kickoff return and 15 yards per punt return ... Ran a 4.4 40 ... Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune First-Team All-State ... First-Team All-Area and West Suburban Conference MVP ... As a junior, led the county with nine interceptions ... Offensively, he accounted for 1,521 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns ...
