International Competition: A 2008 Olympian for Kenya where he was a finalist in the 100 fly...also briefly held the Olympic Record in the 100 fly when he swam 51.14 during the opening rounds...also competed in the 100 free at the Olympic Games in Beijing...a finalist in the 100 fly, breaking the African record with a 51.85 at the 2007 world championships...captured three gold medals, two silvers and three bronze medals at the 2007 All-African Games to become the most successful male athlete of the games...a Kenyan national record-holder in several events...was a semifinalist at the 2006 world short course championships in the 100-meter fly and the 100-meter free...at the 2006 African Championships, was a gold medalist in the 100-meter fly and the 50-meter back, a silver medalist in the 50-meter fly, the 100-meter free and the 200-meter free, and a bronze medal winner in the 50-meter free.
2007-08 Season (Junior): Finished seventh at the 2008 NCAA Championships in the 100 fly...helped Stanford to third place in the 400 medley relay and fourth place in both the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay at the NCAA Championships...also competed in the 50 free and the 100 free at the NCAA Championships...Pac-10 runner-up in the 50 free and 100 fly and third-place finisher in the 100 free...member of second-place 200 free and 400 medley relays and third-place 400 free and 200 medley relays at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships.
2006-07 Season (Sophomore): A major contributor to Stanford's 26th consecutive Pac-10 title as he took third in the 100 fly, fourth in the 50 free, and fifth in the 100 free at the conference championships...was also a member of the champion 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, and 400 medley relay...captured three All-America honors as he finished seventh in the 100 fly, placed second as a member of the 200 free relay team that broke the school record, and finished fourth as part of the 400 free relay team at the NCAA Championships.
2005-06 Season (Freshman): Swam the leadoff leg on Stanford's winning 200 free relay at the Pac-10 Championships...also swam the leadoff leg on the 400 free relay which placed second at the conference meet...helped lead to a runner-up finish in swimming the third leg on the 400 medley relay at the Pac-10's...completed a busy Pac-10 Championship meet by swimming the third leg on the third-place 200 medley relay...finished fourth in the 100 free, and fifth in the 50 free at the Pac-10 Championships...also helped Stanford secure important team points with a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly in helping the Cardinal to a 25th straight team championship...gained All-America honors by swimming the second leg on Stanford's third-place finish in the 400 medley relay at the NCAA Championships, by swimming the leadoff leg on the fifth-place 400 free relay, and by swimming the leadoff leg on the sixth-place 200 free relay...earned two more All-America accolades in the 100 free and the 100 fly...his time of 19.39 in the 50 free at the NCAA's is fourth-best in school history...a time of 43.16 in the 100 free at the NCAA Championships is fifth best in Stanford history, and his 100 fly time of 46.91 at the Pac-10 Championships is ninth best all-time at Stanford.
High School: A championship swimmer at Marlborough College (Wilts, United Kingdom)...ranked No. 1 in the 100 free (under-18) and 100 fly (under-18) in the United Kingdom in 2004-05...captained Wiltshire County and South West of England Schools teams in 2004...an academic scholar in high school and Senior Chemistry award winner.
