Kerry McCoy on Chavez: "Raf had a tough redshirt year last season mainly due to injuries so he did not get much competition. This season he should be ready to take off from where he left off his first season. His competitive nature means that no matter what the odds, he is going to out there and battle. That what it takes to be the best and he knows it."
2006-07 Season (Sophomore): Competed early in the season for the Cardinal, posting an 11-8 record and winning two dual matches ... Eight of 11 wins were by fall, with the fastest coming in 30 seconds over Kyle Francis at the Cowboy Open ... Eight pins ranked third on the team ... Posted a season-high six-match win streak between Nov. 11 and Dec. 1 ... Placed third at 141 pounds at the Cowboy Open with a 6-1 record.
2005-06 Season (Redshirt): Did not compete during the collegiate season due to injury ... Returned to the mat in April, wrestling at the U.S. Senior Nationals in the Freestyle qualifier.
2004-05 Season (Freshman): Tallied 12 wins, including two pins ... Scored two wins in his first outing as a Cardinal at the Central Missouri Open ...
