Stanford University's Official Athletic Site - Baseball

The following is a list of Stanford Baseball players (graduated or drafted from Stanford only) that are currently a member of a professional baseball organization. In 2011, Cord Phelps and Michael Tayloer made their MLB debut, giving Stanford 89 Major Leaguers. Stanford has had at least one Major Leaguer in each year since 1958. The number was 88 until a recent discovery saw that All-Star Shawn Green, who had accepted a baseball scholarship but instead went into pro ball and never played for the varsity team, was a year away from graduation in 2012.

A complete list of Stanford's Major Leaguer's is here. A look at the team's early Major Leaguers is here

In the last 13 years, players out of Stanford University has signed professional baseball contracts for bonuses totaling over 38.5 MILLION dollars.  Stanford has developed 22 first round draft picks in the last 24 years.  In 2008 catcher, Jason Castro, was the first round draft pick of the Houston Astro's, and our LHP, Jeremy Bleich, was a sandwich pick for the New York Yankees.  Closer Drew Storen was the 10th overall selection of the Nationals in 2009 and Chris Reed followed in 2011 as the 15th overall selection.
