Starbird, No. 1 Stanford Fly Past #5 Tennessee, 82-65

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Kate Starbird had 29 points and six rebounds as number oneStanford marched into Knoxville and battered fifth-rankedTennessee, 82-65.

The Cardinal (8-0) got 21 points and seven rebounds from VanessaNygaard, who was 4-of-7 from three-point range.

The trio of Starbird, Nygaard and Olympia Scott, who added 16points, shot 62 percent (26-of-42) from the field. The rest ofthe Cardinal added just 16 points on 8-of-25 shooting (32percent).

Tennessee (7-3) got 24 points and 10 rebounds from ChamiqueHoldsclaw, who was just 11-of-28 from the field. The Volunteersshot 41 percent (28-of-68) from the field and matched Stanford's34 rebounds, but had five shots blocked and turned the ball over15 times.

The Lady Volunteers had just one other scorer in double figures,Abby Conklin, who scored 11 points. Laurie Milligan added eightpoints and was only 4-of-12 from the floor and Pashen Thompsonadded 10 rebounds and seven points for Tennessee.

Jamila Wideman had eight points on 4-of-12 shooting forStanford, but dished out nine assists. The Cardinal cruiseddespite a 12-minute, two-point effort from Naomi Mulitauaopele,who fouled out with four rebounds.
