Starbird, Mulitauaopele Lead No. 3 Cardinal Past Oregon, 85-61
STANFORD, Calif. -- Kate Starbird scored 22 points and Naomi Mulitauaopele added 21points and seven rebounds as third-ranked Stanford claimed an85-61 victory over Oregon in the Pac-10.
The Cardinal (17-1, 5-0) shot just 42 percent (26-of-62) fromthe field, but capitalized on 25 Oregon turnovers. Jenny Moweled Oregon with 17 points.
Mulitauaopele hit a 17-footer from the left corner 1:45 into thegame to give Stanford the lead for good. Stanford closed thefirst half with a 12-2 run, including a 15-footer by JamilaWideman with five seconds left.
Wideman had five points, five assists and four of Stanford's 10steals. Olympia Scott added 13 points and nine rebounds as theCardinal made 30 of their 41 free-throw attempts. Oregon wasjust 11-of-20 from the line.
Stanford scored the first five points of the second half toextend the lead to 23 points. The Cardinal built it to 30points twice in the second half.
