Cardinal Throttle Texas Tech in Second-Round of NCAA Tournament, 67-45

STANFORD, Calif. -- Olympia Scott had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead top-seededStanford to a 67-45 victory over eighth-seeded Texas Tech in anNCAA Tournament West Regional second-round game at Stanford,California.

The Cardinal (32-1), winners of 23 consecutive games, advanced tothe round of 16 for the 10th time in 11 tries and will facefourth-seeded Virginia Saturday at Missoula, Montana.

Kristen Folkl contributed 11 points and eight rebounds forStanford, which extended its nation-leading home winning streakto 48 games. All-American guard Kate Starbird, who injured herankle in the Cardinal's first-round victory over Howard, startedand scored six points in 30 minutes.

Stanford built a 35-18 halftime lead, but the Lady Raidersopened the half with a 10-4 burst to get within 39-28 with 16:11to play. But the Cardinal regrouped and used a 16-4 spurt toopen a 55-32 bulge with 6:10 remaining.

Vanessa Nygaard chipped in with 10 points for Stanford, whichshot 42 percent (27-for-64) from the field.

Alicia Thompson had a strong performance for Texas Tech with 24points and nine rebounds. The Lady Raiders shot 38 percent(19-for-50) and finish their season at 20-9.
