Starbird Sizzles in No. 3 Cardinal Win Over Oregon State, 72-54
STANFORD, Calif. -- Kate Starbird scored 28 points and pulled down seven rebounds asthird-ranked Stanford remained perfect in Pacific 10 Conferenceplay with a 72-54 crushing of Oregon State.
Olympia Scott added 19 points and Milena Flores had sevenassists and four steals for Stanford (18-1, 6-0 PAC 10), whichused a 23-6 run to open up a 32-14 cushion midway through thefirst half. The Cardinal led 40-24 at halftime and forced 25Oregon State turnovers in the game.
Kristina Lelas and Nicole McAllister each scored 12 points andMonica Watts added 10 for Oregon State (7-7, 1-4), which held aslim 35-31 edge on the boards. The Beavers trimmed the lead to62-52 on Starbird's 17-foot jumper with 5:51 to go but wereoutscored 10-2 the rest of the way.
