No. 21 Stanford Routes Host Alaska Anchorage, 91-69, in Great Alaska Shootout

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Tim Young and Ryan Mendez each scored 17 points as 21st-rankedStanford routed Alaska Anchorage, 91-69, in the consolation gameof the Great Alaska Shootout.

Brevin Knight had 16 points and 13 assists and Peter Sauer added13 and seven rebounds for Stanford (2-1), which beatAlaska-Anchorage in the first-ever meeting between the twoschools.

Stanford was upset Friday by the College of Charleston, 82-78.

Rick Stafford scored 20 points and Ryan Williams added 11 forAlaska-Anchorage, which dropped its second consecutive gameafter winning its first five.

Alaska-Anchorage fell, 104-72, to Kentucky on Friday.

Stanford raced out to a 40-32 lead at the half behind Knight'snine points. The Cardinal scored the first six points of the thesecond half for a 14-point lead and, later, led 64-44 with 12:27left in the game.

Stanford shot 52 percent (32-of-58) from the field and held theSeawolves to 39 percent shooting (26-of-67). The Cardinal alsooutrebounded Alaska-Anchorage 36-26.
