No. 21 Cardinal Upended by College of Charleston at Great Alaska Shootout
ANCHOARGE, Alaska -- Anthony Johnson scored 20 points and seven assists as College of Charleston upset 21st-ranked Stanford, 82-78, to advance to the finals of the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage.
Stacy Harris added 18 points and Jermel President had 10 of his 17 in the first half for College of Charleston (3-0), which will face eighth-ranked Kentucky in Saturday's championship game.
Tim Young had 22 points and nine rebounds and Brevin Knight added 19 points and nine assists for Stanford (1-1), which held a 36-34 halftime lead and a seven-point cushion five minutes into the second half.
With his second assist, Knight moved past Reggie Geary (554) into eighth place on the Pac-10's all-time assists list.
Thaddeous Delaney had 11 points, Sedric Webber added 10 and Harris handed out five assists for Charleston, which shot 49 percent (27-of-55) from the field and made 27-of-37 free throws.
