Cardinal Snaps Three Game Losing Skid With 87-54 Win Over OSU

STANFORD, Calif. -- Kris Weems scored 17 points and Arthur Lee added 13 as22nd-ranked Stanford avenged an earlier conference upset with an87-54 rout of Pac-10 rival Oregon State.

Stanford (14-6, 7-5 Pac-10) snapped its three-game losing streakand made up for an 86-77 defeat to the Beavers on January 18th.

Oregon State (6-15, 2-10) continued its woeful road play, losingits 17th straight road contest and 13th consecutive conferencematchup away from home. The Beavers have dropped six of theirlast seven and haven't broken the 80-point barrier in nearly twomonths.

Oregon State was held to just four points in a 10-minute spanbridging the first and second halves. This continues theBeavers' trend of prolonged scoring droughts during conferencematchups. In at least 10 other Pac-10 games this season, OregonState has gone cold from the field for at least a five-minutespan.

The game was tied at 19 following a free throw by Oregon State'sTerrill Woods with 4:37 left in the half. But the Cardinalresponded by going on 10-2 run to close the half. Brevin Knightbegan the burst with a pair of free throws and David Moesleyfollowed with six straight points. A layup by Mark Seatoncapped the burst and gave Stanford a 29-21 lead at the break.

In the second half Stanford came out hot with a 16-2 burst thatbroke the game open. Lee hit a pair of three-pointers and Weemsadded five points during the spurt.

The Beavers made just 8-of-30 field goal attempts and wereoutrebounded 22-12 in the first half.
