Trojans Roll Past Stanford, 45-21

LOS ANGELES - Delon Washington and R. Jay Soward each scored two touchdowns asSouthern California overcame a big day by Stanford receiver TroyWalters for a 45-21 Pac-10 Conference victory.

Washington had one-yard touchdown runs in the first and secondquarters around an 18-yard scoring scamper by Daylon McCutcheonthat erased an early deficit and gave USC a 21-7 lead.

Soward took a reverse 23 yards for a touchdown and hauled in a30-yard TD pass from backup John Fox just over three minutesapart in the fourth quarter, building the lead to 45-14.

Coming off its first shutout loss since 1990, the Trojans (5-4,3-3 Pac-10) also received 109 yards on seven carries from ChadMorton, the brother of former USC star Johnnie Morton, as theyimproved to 52-21-3 in the all-time series.

Walters caught 11 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns andalso returned a punt 66 yards for a score for Stanford (4-5,2-4), which has lost four straight games. During that slide,the Cardinal have committed 17 turnovers.
