Wisconsin Blanks Stanford, 14-0

Mike Samuel threw for one touchdown and ran for the other asWisconsin topped Stanford, 14-0, for its third win in as manygames.

Donald Hayes made a spectacular grab of Samuel's pass as he wasbeing hit by Stanford defenders to open the scoring in thesecond quarter. Samuel plunged into the end zone from one yardout to seal the win in the fourth quarter.

Wisconsin's offense never really got rolling, gaining just 101yards on 38 carries, but the defense, ranked 16th nationallyagainst the rush, stopped Stanford's West Coast offense.

Stanford (1-2) was only able to muster 50 yards rushing on 31carries and Chad Hutchinson was sacked five times. Hutchinsoncompleted 18-of-35 passes for 161 yards, but was intercepted twice.
