Hutchinson Rallies Cardinal By UCLA, 21-20
Chad Hutchinson hit Brian Manning with a 10-yard touchdown passin the final minute to rally Stanford to a 21-20 victory overUCLA in a Pac-10 matchup.
Hutchinson, who completed 22 of 30 passes for 268 yards with twotouchdowns and two interceptions, hit Manning on a fade patternto the left corner to cap off a 10-play, 80-yard drive.
The victory snapped the Cardinal's (3-5, 2-3) three-game losingstreak against UCLA. UCLA (4-4, 3-2) still leads the all-timeseries, 36-28-3.
Cade McNown had given the Bruins a 17-14 lead with 4:01remaining when he found Keith Brown on a 37-yard scoring pass toput UCLA in front for the first time since Skip Hicks scored ona five-yard run at 8:31 of the opening quarter.
McNown, who completed 14 of 34 for 156 yards and a touchdownwith three interceptions, rolled out under pressure and foundBrown on the left sideline for the score.
Bjorn Merten, who earlier kicked a 27-yard field goal, thenconnected from 47 yards out to make it 20-14.
With Stanford trailing 7-0, the Cardinal rolled off 14second-quarter points on a Mike Mitchell 10-yard scoring run anda Hutchinson to Troy Walters 50-yard touchdown pass. Walterscaught eight passes for 144 yards.
Hicks rushed for 94 yards on 26 carries.
