The Cardinal are Outdone in First Day of Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif.- The 11th-ranked Stanford women's soccer team fell to New Mexico, 1-0 in overtime in game two of the Stanford Invitational played at Harry Maloney Field on the campus of Stanford University today.

New Mexico senior Laurie Hegedorn scored in the first overtime at 98:45 to claim the victory for New Mexico. Despite the loss, Stanford outshot the Lobos, 18-7.

In game one, junior Stefanie Mathews scored a pair of second half goals to give Wake Forest a 2-0 victory over USF.

USF and New Mexico will meet on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 11 am while Stanford and Wake Forest will square off at 1 pm in the final day of the Stanford Invitational.
