Stanford Defeats Washington, 3-2

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford senior captain Emily Burt scored off a pass from Tracye Lawyer at 89:22 to break a 2-2 tie and give the Cardinal a 3-2 victory over Washington. Stanford improves to 8-7, 3-2 in conference play while Washington falls to 6-10, 4-2 in the Pac-10.

Stanford senior Rita Hermiz scored at 31:10 off a pass from Ronnie Fair to give Stanford a 1-0 lead early in the first half. Washington's Jana Wilson scored at 52:49 from Angie Crivello's cross to tie the match at one. Burt scored her first goal of the match at 63:56 to put Stanford in front again. Tracye Lawyer recorded the assist. Washington's final goal of the match was scored at 82:10 by Angie Crivello. Burt's second goal with 48 seconds remaining in the match sealed the win for the Cardinal.

Stanford will close out the 1997 regular season with four road matches. Stanford will travel north to face Oregon State (10/31) and Oregon (11/2) before heading to the southwest to meet Arizona State (11/7) and Arizona (11/9).
