Stanford Ties ASU in Overtime, 2-2

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State soccer team (11-6-1,5-2-1 Pac-10) came from behind to tie Stanford (10-7-1, 5-2-1Pac-10), 2-2 in double overtime Friday at Sun Devil SoccerField.

The first goal was scored by Stanford's Tracye Lawyer with theassist going to Jill Buxton in the 34th minute. Lawyer beat thedefender and shot the ball into the right corner of the goal.

Sun Devil sophomore midfielder Kim Wagner fed freshmanmidfielder Antoinette Marjanovic at the 43:30 mark for ASU'sfirst goal. Marjanovic had a breakaway started by Wagner thatled to a one-on-one with the Cardinal goalkeeper.

The score was tied at halftime, but Stanford came out fired upin the second half and scored after three minutes. CelinaDeLeon scored an unassisted goal in the 47th minute off of acorner kick.

However, the Sun Devils would answer again as sophomoredefender Marianne Simmons connected with freshman forwardJaclyn Clark in the 81st minute to tie the game. Simmons passeda long ball to Clark who now leads all Sun Devils in goals with10.

Both sudden-death overtime periods were scoreless. Stanfordoutshot Arizona State 20-11. Sun Devil goalkeeper Erin Reinkehad nine saves, while the Cardinal goalkeeper stopped sixshots. ASU had 15 fouls compared Stanford's 13.

Stanford and Arizona State remain tied for second place in thePac-10.

The Cardinal wrap up the regular season on Sunday in Tucson against Arizona.
