UCLA Defeats Stanford, 2-1

STANFORD, Calif.--The 18th-ranked UCLA women's soccer team defeated Stanford, 2-1 Sunday in a Pac-10 match at Harry Maloney Field on the campus of Stanford University. UCLA improves to 10-2, 2-0 in conference play. Stanford falls to 4-7, 0-2 in the Pac-10.

Stanford senior Emily Burt scored at 17:22 off passes from Rita Hermiz and Celina DeLeon to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead early in the match. UCLA's Traci Arkenberg scored on a direct kick at 26:52 to tie the match at one. Rochelle Ouchi scored the game-winning goal for UCLA off a pass from Arkenberg at 57:31.

Stanford goalkeeper Carly Smolak made her second start in the net for Stanford, recording three saves. UCLA's Lindsay Culp notched four goalie saves.

Stanford will host California on Oct. 17 at 4 pm at Maloney Field.
